P\u016fvodn\u00ed pl\u00e1n zn\u011bl: Route 66 v kabrioletech Mustang. Jen\u017ee pak p\u0159i\u0161el covid, po n\u011bm v\u00e1lka na Ukrajin\u011b, a te\u010f tomu v\u0161emu dal pomyslnou stopku Oran\u017eov\u00fd mu\u017e v \u010dele USA&#8230; Jen\u017ee pak se jednoho dne objevily letenky do New Yorku za ba\u0165ovsk\u00fdch 7 000 K\u010d. Zaho\u010fte pl\u00e1ny, bal\u00edme, let\u00edme!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Varov\u00e1n\u00ed v Lisabonu a &#8222;Take Another Plane&#8220;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Odlet byl z Mnichova p\u0159es Lisabon a\u017e do Newarku. Let\u011bli jsme s portugalsk\u00fdmi TAP (co\u017e se mezi cestovateli s oblibou p\u0159ekl\u00e1d\u00e1 jako <em>Take Another Plane<\/em>, tedy &#8222;vezmi si jin\u00e9 letadlo&#8220;), ale sv\u011bte div se, na na\u0161\u00ed cest\u011b bylo v\u0161echno v naprost\u00e9 pohod\u011b.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Prvn\u00ed vtipn\u00fd z\u00e1\u017eitek p\u0159i\u0161el u\u017e na leti\u0161ti v Lisabonu. P\u0159i \u010dek\u00e1n\u00ed na odlet jsme dali \u0159e\u010d s jednou rodilou Ameri\u010dankou. Jakmile zjistila, \u017ee let\u00edme do &#8222;Velk\u00e9ho jablka&#8220;, za\u010dala se n\u00e1m up\u0159\u00edmn\u011b omlouvat. New York pr\u00fd v\u016fbec nen\u00ed Amerika, je to hrozn\u00e9 m\u011bsto a a\u0165 rad\u011bji n\u011bkdy p\u0159ilet\u00edme za n\u00ed do t\u011bch \u201eprav\u00fdch\u201c St\u00e1t\u016f.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Policejn\u00ed diskot\u00e9ka a no\u010dn\u00ed 5th Avenue<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">V Newarku jsme p\u0159ist\u00e1li ve\u010der. A proto\u017ee jsme dobrodruzi, \u0159ekli jsme si: \u201eP\u0159ece nepojedeme drah\u00fdm expresem, vyzkou\u0161\u00edme m\u00edstn\u00ed autobus!\u201c A dob\u0159e jsme ud\u011blali, byla to j\u00edzda pou\u010dn\u00e1 a nap\u00ednav\u00e1. Trochu n\u00e1s cestou zarazilo mno\u017estv\u00ed policejn\u00edch aut, kter\u00e1 jezdila sem a tam a blikala jako pr\u016fm\u011brn\u00e1 evropsk\u00e1 diskot\u00e9ka na steroidech, ale po chv\u00edli jsme si zvykli.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Rozhodli jsme se nejet metrem rovnou do Queens, kde jsme m\u011bli ubytov\u00e1n\u00ed, ale vystoupit u\u017e na slavn\u00e9 <strong>5th Avenue<\/strong> a nas\u00e1t atmosf\u00e9ru. A \u0159eknu v\u00e1m \u2013 brada mi spadla a\u017e na chodn\u00edk. Je to tam p\u0159esn\u011b jako ve filmech! <em>(Historick\u00e1 vsuvka: 5th Avenue b\u00fdvala na konci 19. stolet\u00ed zn\u00e1m\u00e1 jako \u201eMilion\u00e1\u0159sk\u00e1 \u0159ada\u201c, kde si ti nejbohat\u0161\u00ed pr\u016fmysln\u00edci stav\u011bli sv\u00e1 opulentn\u00ed s\u00eddla. Dnes je to mimo jin\u00e9 p\u0159ehl\u00eddka t\u011bch nejdra\u017e\u0161\u00edch butik\u016f na planet\u011b, tak\u017ee pen\u011b\u017eenky tu pl\u00e1\u010dou \u00fapln\u011b stejn\u011b jako p\u0159ed sto lety.)<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">M\u00fdtus o metru z 80. let zni\u010den<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Co m\u011b absolutn\u011b p\u0159ekvapilo, bylo metro. Jako odchovanec drsn\u00fdch film\u016f z osmdes\u00e1tek jsem \u010dekal posprejovan\u00e9 soupravy a \u017eivotu nebezpe\u010dnou z\u00f3nu. Realita? \u010cist\u00e9 a klidn\u00e9 prost\u0159ed\u00ed. Je teda fakt, \u017ee jsme se pohybovali jen po Manhattanu a Queens. Mo\u017en\u00e1 je to jinde hor\u0161\u00ed. <em>(Mimochodem, newyorsk\u00e9 metro je jedno z nejstar\u0161\u00edch na sv\u011bt\u011b, funguje od roku 1904 a m\u00e1 \u00factyhodn\u00fdch 472 stanic. A ty posprejovan\u00e9 vlaky z 80. let? M\u011bsto tehdy do jejich \u010di\u0161t\u011bn\u00ed investovalo des\u00edtky milion\u016f dolar\u016f, nastolilo nulovou toleranci a sprejery to nakonec p\u0159estalo bavit.)<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Kulturn\u00ed mix a pra\u010dka jm\u00e9nem Guggenheim<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">New York je fantastick\u00e9 m\u00edsto! Je to neuv\u011b\u0159iteln\u00fd tavic\u00ed kotl\u00edk kultur, v\u010detn\u011b turisticky nejzn\u00e1m\u011bj\u0161\u00edch \u010dtvrt\u00ed jako Chinatown a Little Italy. Zaujalo n\u00e1s obrovsk\u00e9 mno\u017estv\u00ed skv\u011bl\u00e9 architektury, perfektn\u00edch muze\u00ed a galeri\u00ed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Kdy\u017e u\u017e je \u0159e\u010d o muze\u00edch, povinn\u00e1 byla n\u00e1v\u0161t\u011bva <strong>Guggenheimova muzea<\/strong>. I kdy\u017e v\u00e1s t\u0159eba modern\u00ed um\u011bn\u00ed tolik nebere, ta budova je zkr\u00e1tka \u00fakaz. Legend\u00e1rn\u00ed architekt Frank Lloyd Wright ji navrhl tak, \u017ee zvenku p\u0159ipom\u00edn\u00e1 ob\u0159\u00ed b\u00edlou pra\u010dku nebo obr\u00e1cen\u00fd zikkurat. Otev\u0159eli ho v roce 1959 a uvnit\u0159 nejsou \u017e\u00e1dn\u00e9 klasick\u00e9 m\u00edstnosti \u2013 prost\u011b jdete po jedn\u00e9 dlouh\u00e9 spir\u00e1lovit\u00e9 ramp\u011b odshora dol\u016f a koch\u00e1\u0161 se um\u011bn\u00edm. Geni\u00e1ln\u00ed a trochu z\u00e1vratn\u00e9!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Central Park, burgery a \u010cech na mrakodrapu<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Podzimn\u00ed Central Park, kter\u00fd hr\u00e1l v\u0161emi barvami, byl z\u00e1\u017eitek s\u00e1m o sob\u011b. K tomu p\u0159idejte n\u00e1v\u0161t\u011bvu klasick\u00e9ho bistra s po\u0159\u00e1dn\u00fdmi burgery a ve\u010dern\u00ed tah do hospody s \u017eivou muzikou, kter\u00e1 vypadala, jako by ji zrovna vyst\u0159ihli ze seri\u00e1lu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Co tam m\u00e1me d\u00e1l? <strong>Empire State Building<\/strong>. <em>(Zaj\u00edmavost: Tuhle 381 metr\u016f vysokou kr\u00e1sku postavili b\u011bhem neuv\u011b\u0159iteln\u00fdch 410 dn\u00ed, a to p\u0159\u00edmo b\u011bhem Velk\u00e9 hospod\u00e1\u0159sk\u00e9 krize v roce 1931. Chv\u00edli to dokonce byla pr\u00e1zdn\u00e1 &#8222;Empty State Building&#8220;, proto\u017ee si nikdo nemohl dovolit tam pronajmout kancel\u00e1\u0159.)<\/em> Vyjeli jsme nahoru mezi prvn\u00edmi. Hned po r\u00e1nu n\u00e1s tam p\u0159iv\u00edtal dvoumetrov\u00fd \u010dernoch, kter\u00fd na sv\u00e9 d\u00edt\u011b plynulou \u010de\u0161tinou k\u0159i\u010del n\u011bco v tom smyslu, a\u0165 neblbne. Uk\u00e1zalo se, \u017ee zrovna p\u0159ijeli z Prahy. Sv\u011bt je mal\u00fd!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Veter\u00e1ni a mrznut\u00ed na Hudsonu<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A j\u00edzda pokra\u010duje &#8211; po\u0161t\u011bstilo se n\u00e1m vid\u011bt na vlastn\u00ed o\u010di pomp\u00e9zn\u00ed pochod na <strong>Veterans Day<\/strong>, kter\u00fd m\u00e1 v USA obrovskou tradici, sahaj\u00edc\u00ed a\u017e ke konci prvn\u00ed sv\u011btov\u00e9 v\u00e1lky.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Na z\u00e1v\u011br jsme dlouho zva\u017eovali okru\u017en\u00ed plavbu kolem Manhattanu, a nakonec jsme do toho pr\u00e1skli. A byl to jeden z nejlep\u0161\u00edch n\u00e1pad\u016f cel\u00e9ho v\u00fdletu! Plavba trvala n\u011bco p\u0159es dv\u011b hodiny, m\u011bla skv\u011bl\u00fd v\u00fdklad a byl to zkr\u00e1tka z\u00e1\u017eitek. <em>(ostrov Manhattan koupili Nizozemci od p\u016fvodn\u00edch obyvatel v roce 1626 za zbo\u017e\u00ed v hodnot\u011b dne\u0161n\u00edch asi 24 dolar\u016f. Tomu se \u0159\u00edk\u00e1 realitn\u00ed kauf mil\u00e9nia!)<\/em> Akor\u00e1t mal\u00e1 rada na z\u00e1v\u011br: na \u0159ece Hudson fakt fouk\u00e1. A to tak, \u017ee i kdy\u017e byla modr\u00e1 obloha a sv\u00edtilo slun\u00ed\u010dko, byli jsme sakra r\u00e1di, \u017ee jsme vyt\u00e1hli p\u00e9\u0159ovky.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Klaustrofobie v ponorce a raketopl\u00e1n, kter\u00fd nelet\u011bl do vesm\u00edru<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Skoro bych zapomn\u011bl na jeden z pro m\u011b nejv\u011bt\u0161\u00edch z\u00e1\u017eitk\u016f. Zakotvili jsme u <strong>Intrepid Sea, Air &amp; Space Museum<\/strong>, co\u017e v praxi znamen\u00e1, \u017ee se proch\u00e1z\u00edte po ob\u0159\u00ed vyslou\u017eil\u00e9 letadlov\u00e9 lodi USS Intrepid. Pro m\u011b to byla naprost\u00e1 bomba! Tahle ocelov\u00e1 obluda t\u0159\u00eddy Essex toho m\u00e1 za sebou v\u00edc ne\u017e leckter\u00fd ak\u010dn\u00ed hrdina \u2013 pro\u0161la druhou sv\u011btovou v\u00e1lkou, p\u0159e\u017eila p\u011bt z\u00e1sah\u016f kamikadze a z oce\u00e1nu lovila astronauty z vesm\u00edrn\u00fdch program\u016f Mercury a Gemini. Na letov\u00e9 palub\u011b je k vid\u011bn\u00ed neskute\u010dn\u00e1 sb\u00edrka leteck\u00e9 techniky, od st\u00edha\u010dky F-14 Tomcat (ano, t\u00e9 klasick\u00e9 z Top Gunu) a\u017e po supertajn\u00fd nadzvukov\u00fd \u0161pion\u00e1\u017en\u00ed letoun Lockheed A-12 z dob studen\u00e9 v\u00e1lky. Jednou ze zaj\u00edmavost\u00ed tohohle krasavce jsou n\u00e1dr\u017ee. Pr\u00e1v\u011b d\u00edky vysok\u00fdm teplotn\u00edm rozd\u00edl\u016fm a teplotn\u00ed rozta\u017enosti bylo t\u0159eba nechat jednotliv\u00fdm d\u00edl\u016fm v\u016fli. Tato v\u016fle ov\u0161em znamenala, \u017ee letadlo po natankov\u00e1n\u00ed na zemi teklo jako cedn\u00edk. Probl\u00e9m s t\u011bsnost\u00ed n\u00e1dr\u017ee nebyl nikdy uspokojiv\u011b vy\u0159e\u0161en a p\u0159i b\u011b\u017en\u00e9m provozu bylo natankov\u00e1no jenom tolik paliva, aby se letadlo dostalo do vzduchu, kde dotankovalo z tankeru\u00a0a okam\u017eit\u011b vystoupalo do opera\u010dn\u00ed v\u00fd\u0161ky. P\u0159i vy\u0161\u0161\u00edch rychlostech se materi\u00e1l rozt\u00e1hl a n\u00e1dr\u017ee se tak ut\u011bsnily.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hned vedle lodi jsme se nasoukali do \u00fatrob ponorky <strong>USS Growler<\/strong>. Pokud netrp\u00edte klaustrofobi\u00ed, tady ji zaru\u010den\u011b chyt\u00edte. A p\u0159i vstupu mus\u00edte jako test proj\u00edt \u00fazk\u00fdm pr\u016flezem, aby jste se jim tam pak n\u011bkde nezasekli :-). Jde o obrovskou raritu, je to toti\u017e jedin\u00e1 americk\u00e1 dieselelektrick\u00e1 ponorka schopn\u00e1 odpalovat jadern\u00e9 st\u0159ely (konkr\u00e9tn\u011b strategick\u00e9 k\u0159i\u017euj\u00edc\u00ed rakety Regulus), do kter\u00e9 v\u00e1s jako turistu pust\u00ed. Propl\u00e9tat se t\u011bmi neuv\u011b\u0159iteln\u011b \u00fazk\u00fdmi uli\u010dkami a z\u00edrat na palandy pro ponorn\u00edky nat\u011bsnan\u00e9 hned vedle torp\u00e9d byl solidn\u00ed z\u00e1\u017eitek.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A na z\u00e1v\u011br? Raketopl\u00e1n <strong>Enterprise<\/strong>! \u010clov\u011bk to zn\u00e1 z televize a z fotek, ale kdy\u017e p\u0159ed n\u00edm stoj\u00edte na\u017eivo, teprve v\u00e1m dojde, jak obrovsk\u00e1 tahle ma\u0161ina ve skute\u010dnosti je. Co je na n\u011bm nejvtipn\u011bj\u0161\u00ed? Tenhle konkr\u00e9tn\u00ed fe\u0161\u00e1k se do vesm\u00edru vlastn\u011b nikdy nepod\u00edval. \u0160lo o v\u016fbec prvn\u00ed zku\u0161ebn\u00ed prototyp z roku 1976, kter\u00fd nem\u011bl funk\u010dn\u00ed motory ani tepeln\u00fd \u0161t\u00edt. In\u017een\u00fd\u0159i z NASA ho pou\u017e\u00edvali \u010dist\u011b na atmosf\u00e9rick\u00e9 testy, kdy ho nech\u00e1vali klouzat k zemi ze h\u0159betu speci\u00e1ln\u011b upraven\u00e9ho Boeingu 747.
